2 pkg | Southeastern Mills® Classic Brown Gravy Mix |
1½ lb | lean ground beef |
½ cup | bread crumbs |
1 | egg, beaten |
¼ cup | vegetable oil, divided |
8 oz | mushrooms, sliced |
3 | cloves garlic, minced |
2 lb | sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped |
½ lb | yellow potatoes, peeled and chopped |
⅓ cup | 35% heavy cream |
¼ tsp | each salt and pepper |
1 lb | green beans, trimmed and steamed |
Mix together 1 packet Classic Brown Gravy Mix, ground beef, bread crumbs and egg. Divide into 6 portions and shape into 1/2-inch oval patties.
Heat 2 Tbsp oil in large skillet set over medium-high heat; cook patties for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown on each side. Transfer to tray.
Heat remaining oil in same skillet set over medium-high heat; cook mushrooms and garlic for 5 to 8 minutes or until slightly browned. Whisk remaining packet of Classic Brown Gravy Mix with 2 cups water until smooth. Pour into pan; bring to boil. Reduce heat to simmer. Return patties to pan; cook for 10 to 12 minutes or until patties are cooked through, mushrooms are tender and gravy is thickened.
In saucepan of cold salted water, bring sweet potatoes and potatoes to boil. Reduce heat to medium; cover and cook for 15 to 20 minutes or until tender. Drain well and return to pan. Mash together potatoes, cream, salt and pepper until smooth.
Serve steak on bed of mashed potatoes; pour mushroom gravy over top. Serve with green beans.
This dish can also be served with carrots, broccoli or peas.
